Introducing Kylie and Christian
Brooklyn and Jace have two special friends.... Christian and Kylie. We had a little playdate with them to welcome Kylie to the neighborhood.
Christian and Brooklyn - they agreed to sit still but smiles were not part of the deal.

HAPPY DUE DATE JACE!
April 12, 2008 was Jace's offical due date! I realized that I have not posted much about Jace's birth on this blog. Jace Brendan was born on February 20, 2008 which was 7 weeks and 1 day early. We picked his name when we were pregnant with Brooklyn, I liked the name Jace and got David on board with it. Brendan is after my Mom Brenda, both of our kids' middle names are after their grandmothers who mean the world to David and I. I wish my Mom was still here to get to know her namesake but we will honor her through memories. He entered the world at 4 lbs 8 oz and 18 inches long after a major scare and surgery for Mom, he is now close to 8 lbs. He was so small and precious. He went straight from the delivery at St. Josephs to the NICU at CHOC. David got to see him during his first few hours and promised to bring pictures, but in true Martinez fashion the camera was dead, hee hee (it is funny today, not so funny then). I saw Jace for the first time about 15 hours after he was born. To say that a hospital stay without your baby after giving birth is sad is an understatement. And, leaving the hospital to go home empty handed is also unbelievably heartbreaking. However, there was some comfort knowing he was next door getting the care that he needed. He was 100% healthy when he was born, his lungs and all major organs were fully developed, which is amazing with how early he was. His stay at CHOC really just consisted of eating and growing, which he did. After 2 and a half weeks he was already home. We still cannot believe he has already been with us for just under 8 weeks. The time with him has been filled with appreciation and we feel so blessed to have him here, healthy and thriving.
Welcome Jace on your official due date, we are so blessed and proud to have you here baby boy! You are welcomed here by two parents and a big sister that are full of love for you, you have completed our family. In addition, there are many other family and friends that have such love for you, you are cherished!

Special shout out to Auntie Meghan, her birthday was one day before Jace's due date. David and I celebrated her birthday, we all went bowling and had drinks....just a note I beat David both games at bowling!!!!

2 Martinez's and a Moranda at the park
Brooklyn and Jace had a play date at the park with their friend Jackie. Jackie is actually 2 years older than Brooklyn but she was a really good sport hanging out with a "baby" - they had a great time. Brooklyn continues to think any piece of paper or trash on the ground is a treasure and she always thinks people are chasing her and runs away laughing. Jace, on the other hand, was not as active at the park but stayed nestled in his stroller - he prefered his own privacy to reflect on life. It was one of my first excursions with two little ones.
On our way, pretty tight squeeze w/2 carseats.

Look at Jace grow!
Jace is getting so much bigger, he is such a sweet baby. He is now 6 weeks old, if things would have gone as orignally planned I would have had him on March 31st (in between my 38th and 39th pregnancy week) so the fact that he has been here for six weeks is still so unbelievable, but in a good way. We feel so blessed to have him here with us. He is still on a 3 hour feeding schedule and eating like crazy, he is easily over 7 lbs now, we will find out this week how much weight he has gained. He is staying awake for longer periods and is the most mello baby.

New Accomplishments!
Brooklyn has learned how to spin in circles and make herself dizzy, she thinks this is a dance move, she follows it with another new dance move...we are not sure what to call the new move. Note - please overlook the fact she doesn't have pants on, she was mid diaper change when she got the dancing fever :)
Well, we won't be taking Brooklyn to the zoo anytime soon, she doesn't understand the concept of "Don't feed the animals" -- she has learned to feed the dogs. FINALLY, Roxy and Chloe are able to find a reason that these kids should stay....
Queen and King of the Castle

Queen of the Castle! What's the password lil bro?

Wait, Don't Leave! WHOA!!!!!
Well, it is official, David FINALLY accepted that some of the kids toys will end up in his game room, and this toy is a big one! We blew up the Castle Bouncer and put it in the gameroom and have let Brooklyn play in there with her Backyardigans CD blaring, good times!!! Brooklyn's cousins came over and joined the fun!
